Animated Movies Mistaken for Disney (Music Style)

As an avid Disney fanatic and lover all things musicals, I have encountered many people who automatically assume that all animated musicals are produced by the Walt Disney Company. Truly, this is not the case. Throughout the 80s, 90s, and 00s tons of animated musicals emerged making it big. Some gained praise for their catchy soundtracks and compelling plots. Others were awarded for their terrific casting. More so, many of these movies are now considered classics. So why is it that we look back at these movies and only associate them with Disney? There are many wonderful animated musicals and hit-song movies produced by other companies. So here are my top 10 best non-Disney, Disney-mistaken animated movies containing music. (Also, my favorite songs from each of them.)

10) The Secret of Nimh

Favorite song: Flying Dreams

9) The Land Before Time

Favorite song: If We Hold on Together

8) Ferngully

Favorite song: Batty Rap (because who would love Robin Williams rapping?)

Also, anyone ever notice how incredibly dark this song was for a kids movie?

7) Thumbelina

6) An American Tale

It’s a tie between Never Say Never and Somewhere Out There

5) The Polar Express

4) Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron

Get Off My Back

3) The Prince of Egypt

Through Heaven’s Eyes

2) The Road to Eldorado

It’s Tough to Be a God

1) Anastasia

The WHOLE soundtrack! But if I have to pick, I’ll go with Learn to Do It because it’s so upbeat and fun to sing.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the throwback to these older movies and have a great rest of your day! 🙂
